SUMMERTIME IS

Reserve your place at the table this Summer for one of my
'Hands On Clay' events.   
These one-day wonders are held under the big oaks outside my studio in
Old Mountain View. 

​          A FEW DETAILS ABOUT MY WORKSHOPS:

  • All materials provided. All clay is non-staining nontoxic white stoneware.

  • Classes are suitable for all levels of clay experience.

  • I will provide snacks and a beverage to enjoy throughout the class.

  • Bring your own lunch for a mid-class break in my backyard.

  • Pieces will be twice fired, glazed and ready to pick up in 2-3 weeks.

  • $90 per class payable the day of the workshop: cash, check or CC

  • Great way to spend time with friends, family or co-workers.

  • For ages 12 and up.

  • All participants must be fully vaccinated.

BUILD A BASKET

Saturday JUNE 18th
9am to 2pm

 
             

 
LIMIT 6 PARTICIPANTS
  • Create a 5' deep oval container, add a strap handle, and paint with your own designs and colors with colored slip. Finished with a clear gloss glaze.

  • Use as a cache pot for potted herbs or flowers, a bread or muffin basket - or fill with fruit. Makes a sweet gift!

GARDEN LANTERN

Saturday JUNE 25th
10am to 3pm
LIMIT 6 PARTICIPANTS
  • Build a box, add feet and carve your own design to enjoy under the night sky this fall with a flickering pillar candle - or LED faux 'candle'. A magical addition to your home indoors any season.

  • These also look amazing holding a bouquet of blooms in a jar...or an orchid plant..

  • Choose one of 8 different glaze finishes

BIG BOWL QUARTET

Saturday    JULY 16th    10am to 3pm

 LIMIT 6 PARTICIPANTS    

  • Roll out clay and form four quart-size bowls using a watermelon and texture tools.

  • Choose one of 8 different glaze finishes

  • Microwave, dishwasher and (moderate) oven safe.

  • Fill with grains and greens and carry to the way back with a cold beer after a hike. Or popcorn and a movie. Or your fav crisp salad. Or udon noodles topped with all things delicious...

FOOTED POT DUO

Saturday JULY 23
10am to 3pm
LIMIT 6 PARTICIPANTS
  •  One square and one cylindrical, textured - and elevated on cube or round feet.

  •  You can make drainage holes or not, use as a cache pot or plant directly into.

  •  There will be 8 different glazes to choose from for finishing.

SMALL COUPES

Saturday JULY 30th
10am to 2pm
LIMIT 6 PARTICIPANTS
  • Make a set of 8 cupped bowls formed over grapefruit. Finish with texture - or not. Top edge undulates naturally; each coupe is unique.

  • Microwave, (moderate) oven and dishwasher safe.

  • Use these shell-like bowls for banchan, a single scoop of gelato, nut and fruit snacks, mise en place, toppings at your next taco bar and more.

  • Choose from 8 glazes

WALL POCKETS

Saturday AUGUST 20th
10am to 3pm
LIMIT 6 PARTICIPANTS

Create 2 textured 'envelopes' formed from square slabs of clay and finished with a hole at the top for hanging on the wall inside - or on the garden fence.

  • Hold cocktail napkins, dried or fresh flowers, cards and notes, coffee filters, etc.

  • Choose from 8 glazes.

  • Make one for you - and one for a friend!

UTENSIL CROCKS

Saturday AUGUST 27th
10am to 3pm
LIMIT 5 PARTICIPANTS
  • Make two stoneware crocks with or without handles, 7 and 9 inches tall and 5" diameter

  • Build and texture your jars to hold all manner of kitchen tools - from wooden spoons & spatulas to long tongs & skewers. Keep tools handy by the stove top or workstation for easy access when creating your favorite recipes.

  • These hold flowers & potted orchids also!

  • Choose from eight different glaze finishes

CACHE POT TRIO

Saturday SEPTEMBER 17th
10am to 3pm
LIMIT 6 PARTICIPANTS
  • Create three jars in three sizes: 3 1/2" diameter and 3", 4", and 5" tall.

  • Texture as desired - cut a hole in the bottom if you plan to use them for plants.

  • Myriad of uses from flatware at your next buffet to dip and crudites.

  • Dishwasher and microwave safe.

  • Choose from 8 different glaze finishes
